Sweeter, more complex flavor than other bunching onions. Upright plants with long, thick shanks. Resists leaf-curl and bulbing in hot weather.
Nabechan (the seed we use) is a traditional Japanese variety grown for its high quality. Can also be grown like a leek to create a unique large scallion known as “Negi” in Japan.
To grow larger scallions, thin out the seedlings. The more seeds/stems in the seedling, the smaller the produce. The fewer stems, larger bulb.
Use with the green stalks for continuous growth or pull the bulb and replace as needed.
