Forms a small, open but tightly bunched, 6″ rosette that is fan-shaped rather than round. Dark green leaves and small compact hearts that blanch to an appetizing yellow color. Crisp and sweet. Butter Crunch is a type of Bibb or Boston lettuce.
Butter Crunch can be harvested as a ‘cut and come again’ green, like most lettuces. This allows you to begin harvesting 21 days after planting and come back again throughout the season. To do this, simply remove the lowest leaves of the plant as they come into maturity.
Butter lettuce is the most nutritious of the lettuces. The leaves are higher in folate, iron, and potassium than iceberg or leaf lettuce.
