Meredith’s Food for Thought… Cooler Temps Are Here!

Hi Friends,

And just like that, Fall has ushered in cooler temps.  As we transition from the long hot days of Summer into the respite of Fall, now is a great time to give your Tower Garden a good cleaning, replant with fresh Fall & Winter seedlings, prepare for cooler outdoor temps, or move our towers inside.

A clean Tower Garden presents itself proudly, and now is the perfect time to make her shine!  We recommend using Citric Acid for an easy clean-up.  Disassemble your tower and fill your reservoir with clean water; add 1 cup of Citric Acid and mix well.  Next, submerge your tower segments and let them soak for a couple of hours.  The mineral build-up, algae, and dirt will easily wash away.  You can find Citric Acid here on our website.

Now reassemble your shining tower, and let’s fill her ports with fresh, healthy seedlings!  You may wish to adorn your tower with seasonal veggies such as Broccoli, Cabbage, or Collards Greens. We always have Herbs, Greens, Lettuce, and Microgreens available all year; take a look at what is available now!

Depending on your location, you might be a full-time outside gardner.  Did you know that adding a submersible water heater to your reservoir can extend your outdoor growing season?  Nutrient solutions below 60 degrees can shock plants, slowing the metabolic processes and halting growth. During the cooler months, this is an especially common problem.

Our friends who are growing up in the Northern states may be thinking about cleaning their towers and tucking them in for a long winter’s nap.  Or, maybe you want to extend your growing season too.  Adding a light kit to your tower and growing fresh seedlings inside might be your next big adventure!  For more information, click here to see them on our website.

Sending you all happy, healthy Fall Blessings, and as always, thank you for supporting our greenhouse.  If you have any questions, please contact me at meredith@atlurbanfarms or by phone 404-800-4435.

Wishing you a beautiful day,

Meredith
