Deer Resistant Plants from Mountain Valley Farms

deer-in-garden-300x225“I planted all my beautiful flowers yesterday and the next morning, and I awake to find the deer have eaten them all!” is a very common frustration we hear from our customers. Spending time and money fixing up a yard and garden to find it eaten and stepped all over can make anyone discouraged. Deer are primarily browsers and prefer to eat the new, growing tips of your plants. Luckily we have found some great plant solutions that are actually “deer resisting plant”.

SHOP – Dwarf Mondo: Dwarf mondo grass is one of the best ground covers. It can be used in many different ways. Many people who have yards is too shady for turf grass find that dwarf mondo gives them the look of turf, can tollerate the shade and an added bonus, it does not need to be mowed!

SHOP – Mondo, Ophiopogon japonica: Mondo grass is a thin blade light sun to shade evergreen ground cover. When mature, it will have a light blue berry fruit during the summer months. This is an excellent choice of ground cover for areas that do not get much daylight. It does need some direct or filtered light so complete shade will not work for this plant.
